Proper rss notification?

Pardon my ignorance, but I noticed that, while pages generated using newtopica have an xml button for people to use to sign up for the rss feed from that page, the pages do not produce the code necessary for firefox etc. to notify the user that the page contains an rss feed in the address bar.

Am I mising something?
