Install Error

Hi,
I am attempting to install phpld v2.0 for the first time I am getting the following error @ the install page:

Warning: Smarty error: validate: validator id 'v_step' is not registered. in /home/direct/public_html/libs/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1088

Anyone have any suggestions?

I've seen this quite a bit on Windows local installations.
What are you running?

Here is what I have:

CentOS / Fedora operating system
PHP 4.3.x, Apache 1.3.xx and PERL 5.xxx

I have seen that error many times. I searched through the forums, and it seems that people solved it on many occasions, but did not post the solution. If you don't have a solution soon (someone posts it), I will get someone to look on your server (if possible) and help you.

I also want to put the solution in the knowledge base as well.

i am not sure but have you set all the permissions right so that the temp folder has 777

If we don't get an answer here shortly, I will be happy to look directly on your server (PM all info: FTP, admin login, cpanel, etc), and I will add it to the work queue, but it will probably take a couple of days to get to your request, so hoping we will solve here.

My systems guy just solved this for me. Check your firewall (I was using ZoneAlarm). Make sure it is not blocking 3rd party cookies (deep in the config..under CookieControl, Custom settings...block 3rd party cookies). Dependng on your Windows config, you may have Smarty session cookies on a different domain than PHP's default on Apache.

Also on DreamHost if you don't get the Admin login option after a successful install (as I did not), you can manually go to /admin/ and you will get the login screen.

So everything went fine on Dreamhost, with the exception that you had to manually access admin?

A funny thing about ZoneAlarm is that when you turn it off it isn't really off. You have to set it to *not* activate on bootup, and then reboot, and it will be really off.

I can't say this is related to your problem, but if you turned ZA off and tested, that was not enough of a test.

Phpld2 I located but the I get bug invite install.php: The installer cannot start.
Please make sure that the folder /USER/potyka/links/temp/templates is writtable by the user the webserver runs under.
The UK lingua my knowledge minuscule :))))))

need to chmod this folder to 777

Search for "Adodb" here in the forums. This is a pretty common error.

Often this problem occurs when using Firefox.
