Code that makes script not validate

Hi to all.
I am working on a theme for v2.0.
When I run it with the code that comes with the download

Content visible to registered users only.

The template/site does not pass xhtml validation.

However, when I remove it, the template/site validates no problem.

Is this a necessity for the template/script?

All of my directories pass xhtml validation with that same code.

Can you provide a URL so I can see what the validator is saying?
