How many links and categories can phplinkdirectory handle?

ok.. just im looking around and few of phpLd competitors seem to have limits...
around 5000 cats and 30,000 links..

You should know that if you are going to start adding massive amounts of categories like that, you will need to make some modifications, or your category list will be so long, you wont be able to use it.

Im assuming where talking about when submitting a link, the list for choice of cat will be huge...
is there a mod for submiting like DMOZ style?

Not sure if a mod has been made that is offered here at the forums, but in newer versions, when a users goes to a category, then clicks the submit link, that category is the one already chosen for them on the submit page. However, the rest of the categories are still listed, and a very long category list would make page loading of the submit page very slow.

I know some have made modifications to help the speed, so you might just ask around for a mod to be made for you, should you decide on this.

but no numbers have been provided... say if i had 90,000 links and say 4000 cats

would pages load? and search work? any mods give me advice on this

Like Opti said, you'll need to make your own modifications.

And like I said, you're nowhere near the ballpark figure of even having any difficulties with having it run just fine, with teh exception of the dropdown list.

I had 2,580,000 in one of my directories.

so far I have 1017 categories and 2600 links running version 3.02. I haven't upgrade to 3.04 yet.
