First, I do not have MSSQL ... so hopefully that won't cause an issue.

I try to go to /links/admin and get the following error:

Warning: Missing argument 2 for http_redirect() in /home/virtual/xxxxxxx/fst/var/www/html/links/include/functions.php on line 359

So now I'm stuck and can't do a thing, can't set this up at all

Something tells me I wasted some money here.

Why should I have to edit code on a brand new product when I haven't touched a single line of code?

You have to remember that no software is perfect, and that bugs will come and go.

Also, not every host compiles/configures their servers exactly the same.
If you read the short thread, you'll notice that it was a server side compile that caused the error, but was fixed accordingly.

phpld is anything BUT a 'waste' of money. There are thousands of satisfied customers (Myself being one of them).

If you aren't versed enough to edit files on your own, just give the say so.

I can edit but me and PHP do not get along.

I did exactly what it said, edited the file (mysql.inc.php) yet I still get an error. I'm still learning the script and clicking around, but will log each instance of error and then paste them all.

I'm still surprised I had to pay, since I read about this script on a website that said it was the best "free" link directory. Obviously I felt it was worth it at the time ... but time will tell, right? :)

Believe me when I tell you it is well worth it.

By the way, which version are you running? There are several:

2.0 rc5
3.0
3.01
3.02
3.03

I am guessing since you've mentioned you bought it, you're running 3.03?

Regardless though, I can honestly tell you that I joined up here the last week of february, have no php experience, no smarty experience, no phpld or script experience, and am pretty proud of my directory.

It really doesn't take a lot, just some patience ;)

In the end I am really willing to bet you will be thinking back and saying to yourself: 'w0w!, that was a lot of fun!"

Rob

Also pam, i hope you're hairtostay though, and won't be giving up so easily. ;)

I use another script whose name I won't mention but am in love with it but always like trying new software.

The real kicker will be when it's time to change the template and get my designer involved.

I can write html blindfolded but PHP? Feh. I always manage to break it, but have learned to fix things and I always try to remember to backup first .... :)

PS: The install.txt said to read the README file first but none was included. Just got a pageful of errors because my templates weren't chmod 666 ... nothing told me to do that!

?

I am afraid of you already!

Install.txt most important:
Content visible to registered users only.

If you Pm me your FTP info and directory info i'l ltake a look at it for you.

ftp:

host
user
pswd

dir:
host
db name
user
pswd

and i'll take a stab at it.

Can you tell which version you are running?

Hello!

Sorry for the inconvenience, but this is more an issue of your PHP installation. We had several reports of servers that need a variable defined before assigning a value to it. Regulary this is not the case, but it seems some hosting companies don't want to deliver customers with basic PHP.

This is fixed for the next release of phpLD (3.0.4)
You can wait some hours or a day untill David checks his email with the new phpLD 3.0.4 I sent him and he will put it online.

After you fix that issue, you will have probably another error in admin area that is caused by Adodb library. The little fix is also in the link provided by anon above.

And please, try to comment on something after you know exactly what's going on. To make a failure is human, do you think we are robots to provide something "perfect"? Show me please one software that does not have bugs and I will be your personal developer for free...
There will always be bugs, and this is why we are still here, to provide fixes and improvements.
(nothing personal with you, I think it was just a load thought)

Thank you!
Boby

Oy vey, I took a look at the templates. My designer does not speak English and I was hoping beyond hope it was a simple html template for the main page .........

*crying loudly*

I'm using 3.03 ... I had 4 options of which to download and figured 3.03 was the latest so grabbed it.

On the templates file, they WERE chmod 777 .... but it gave an error and said I had to do them 666, so once I did that, it was fine.

Yes, I "try" to remember to backup .... and I'm pretty good at remembering most of the time! I'm old, it's a valid excuse.

:)

so you CHMOD'd the temp folder and the inlcudes/config/php as well correct?

and seeing that it's 3.03, the link I gave in response should definately do the trick.

as Boby said though, 3.04 is due out in a few days, and it has all the fixes necessary, so if you can wait just a few more, i'd suggest doing so.

I know i am.

Warning: Missing argument 2 for http_redirect() in /home/virtual/xxxxxxxx/fst/var/www/html/links/include/functions.php on line

And yes, I already made the change as suggested. This happened after I tried to submit a link (I had to register, could not find a way to add links from within the admin area) to see how it would appear in the admin, for me to validate.

As I typed this, I saw your response so I'll ignore this, close the admin, work on some other sites, and wait for the update.

Yes, chmod 777 on 4 folders/files and the config file ..... but when I went to "edit templates" they all gave an error saying I had to chmod 666. I confirmed they were 777 (it's easy to spot!).

Closing the admin ....... waiting for upgrade ...... :)

Hi Pam,

I have 3.04 Final ready. I'm testing it now, and it should be ready shortly.
So look forward to an announcement shortly.

Sorry you are having trouble. As mentioned by others, sometimes certain hosting setups can be problematic, though this has become rarer. I don't think you wasted your money.

Worse case scenario, I will personally get it installed for you, but I want you to try 3.04 first.

Thanks,
David

Thanks, sugar :)

I'm not known for patience but have lots of other work I can do while I wait for you to perfect the script that should be the greatest thing since sliced bread!

How is it coming along, David?

I just pulled down one of my sites today as the script it was using has too many exploits, tired of updating it every week. So, I need a new link directory script!

Is this upgrade ready YET? Been a month since I bought the script and still obviously can not use it.
