anon, is this possibly a Dreamhost problem?

And sense we have tested extensively (anon) on Dreamhost, I have suggested that he install 3.04 in a subfolder. At the sametime, he can "grab" the user, and try to insert in his other installation (phpmyadmin), and see if that helps him be able to login to admin.

I do appologize for the quick link. I actually had to run out in a hurry, and couldn't find the exact post for you, or write out a full blown explanation.

This link provided now *is* the explanation on what they are doing/have done.

if you're on anything other than 3.04, you're not going to be able to install phpld and be able to log into the admin. maybe David will look into getting an updated installer going for older versions for dreamhost specifically.

If you do have another host provider, I'd suggest moving on over to them, unless you have 3.04 which installs beautifully. all green, no red x's.

could you just try to go to http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp and update the whole thing, remember that php is dynamic hypertext language and your admin panel follows this.

If it doesn't work try firefox at google, but I've notice a failure in the script for users using IE because the script sets panel the under the window.
