just a test site at the minute whilst i get things as i want them, but any comments on the design / layout of this site?
http://www.logon.info
Am also trying to figure out where/how to put text into the index page. I want a link directory, but I also want to add text into the main landing page, into link submission pages (i.e. the types of sites we accept / terms etc. etc.) and a bit of info onto the category pages - think i can run this from db - to give a category description for seo purposes.
Basically, I want the moon on a stick! Dont mean to sound needy or greedy, but this is a great bit of code, just trying to customise it for what I want to do - let me know what you think anyway.......

I like what you did, and it seems like you are working with Smarty quite well already. The only thing that got my attention was the oval at the top. It looked a little fuzzy, and i assume you will add more categories, which I think will fill out the page better.

ok, have added some omore in, and also figured out how to use the if statements to make the index page display text as well as links. I have also chucked in a couple mor ecategories to bulk it out some, but my directory will be limited to about 20 categories - if it goes above this, I will only display the top level categories on the home page to keep the design looking good.
The oval thing is on the todo list!
Getting there though!

By the way tony, I've sent out thousands of jewelry related emails using this software, so we might want to compare notes sometime.

OK, have sorted the oval out in the header (still slightly blurry, but to make it perfect means increasing file size to over 50kb, and not going to do that...)
David, the jewellery links people, yes please!! I have over 400 active exchangees (is that a word) who exchange links with my wifes site, www.niknakgroup.com and will be moving all of these into the logon.info site once I launch it publically. Any further contacts most gratefully received, if you would like to swap/compare etc.... ;)
Anyway, for those who are interested, I have completely messed with this script to get a complete site which not only serves as a link directory, but also (potentially anyway) a workable business model. The only major thing I have left to do is to incorporate a forum of some kind ot the same design (all suggestions gratefully received) and to complete my plug in script for multiple feeds. For minor jobs, I have to create about 6 or 7 static html pages with the same graphical layout for help/advice/sales etc. If anybody has a sensible idea for doing this WITHIN the php structure of phpld (i.e. so that I can include the includes....)please, please let me know. This will keep the site much more together and make future updates a heap load easier.
Well, having first downloaded this script in early June, I finally got down and dirty with it on Tuesday, and if I keep going at this rate I will be ready for public launch on Monday evening......so I'll stop typing jibberish here and go get some actual WORK done!! =)

Hello, nearly 6weeks after I thought i was going to get it done, but I finally have a live site. I have created an xml feed handler which allows members to join mini networks of syndicated links - a mass link exchanger of sorts.
Anyway, have already started with a bang with over 200 jewellery related sites subscribed, and hopefully many more to follow - not only in the jewellery categories.
Take a look, let me know what you think - www.logon.info
