Hi Guys

I run the free version of phpLD and currently get about 200 emails bounce a day to this address vrgrhty4b@gmail.com

Basically lots of **censored****censored****censored****censored** submissions. How can I stop this on the free version?

If I go away for a few days these emails bouncing back will kill my inbox in a couple of days,

Thanks

James

Just fillter them out to trash. Most email accounts do not count the size of the trash in the overall allowance.

or use a Gmail account that has 1-4gb inbox and sick spamfilter on it,.that gets the spammer on a global spamlist.

Gmail generally identifies spam quite nicely.

I have created a mod that kills most of the spam submissions and it has been doing really well on my directory.

Here is an example -
Content visible to registered users only.Bots trying to submit blank description - would not get opportunity to submit using this code (and others in the mod) and eventually no spam emails either!

Thx

Hi

Where does that code go? Im not very good at code :o Be interested to give this a try?

Also with the "use a Google mail" suggestion the spam is coming from a gmail account lol.

I have sorted the issue now with ban word mod and mass delete mod. I managed to contact the writer of the mass delete mod. Unfortunately though someone complained about his site and its been taken down. Shame as there was a lot of useful info on there.

Just glad that I have now removed all that filth from the site

Thanks

James

My intention is not to offence anyone on this forum but I am speaking on behalf of my situation, on my directory 95% of spam submissions are from India, to avoid future spamming I went at blockacountry.com and all of the Indians IP's are not blacklisted. Maybe is not the best way but I had enough to moderate daily spams from Indian IP's. I have also added a "Hall of Shame" page where I am now listing all other IP's that spam my directory.
