I was trying to find some stats on availability and usage of php5 on servers. I would love to stop developing in php4 and move forward with php5 in future releases. Can anyone find any 2009 stats about php usage and availability?

No stats, but I just switched several of my sites to use php5. It does offer increased functionality, so I agree that php5 would be the way to go. On a side note, my PR facility never used to work with php4 and I thought it was because the host was blocked, but as soon as I switched to php5, it started working.
I think most hosts worth their salt, would at least offer a facility to switch php versions.
