phpLD as a Travel Directory Script:
We've been seeing more people lately use phpLD as for creating travel sites, and for good reason. With the use of features like google maps and search by location, it makes it easy to organize the content in a directory format. For example, some of the categories would be:
Hotels and Lodgings
Places of Interest
Bars and Restaurants
etc.
What makes a travel directory different that a local directory is it doesn't need to list every single business. Instead it lists the best places that would make for a great vacation. And what's nice is it is not a monumental project. Simple create some categories, add some nice links and give it a good design. Then do things like use the Disqus plugin (http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36958) to add user interactivity and get user generated content. Then add some articles consistently over time, and before you know it, you have a burgeoning travel directory business. :)
