RSS on the main page

Hallo everyone,

Can someone explain to me :) what exacly is RSS used for ?

When i click on my mainpage on the RSS button then it displays a empty page ( only the subscribe to this feed ) button.
What i want to do is add a RSS from Google ( Adsense for Feed ) but i dont know how.

Anyone have an answer for this one? Is there a way to have a Page use the RSS feed. Can that field be added like in the categories has?
