It can be done somehow. I don't know exactly how because I personally don't like Joomla and never used it for more than 1 day.

The whole main page http://www.phplinkdirectory.com is powered by Joomla and there is also a (demo) directory http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/demo/

I need a better explanation of what would be required to do this.

I may be doing it soon ... I can't seem to find a native Joomla extension that supports import/export of links (especially from DMOZ or Google).

But I'm thinking of simply using Joomla's wrapper function to wrap phpLD into the site, then edit the CSS to blend it in. I'm not sure what more you would need in terms of a "bridge", unless you wanted to integrate the admin login functions.

Besides user login, and letting users add links, I'm not sure what else would really need to be done.

Most of the "components" that install into Joomla integrate the "back end" administrative functions into the Joomla interface. I suspect that's where most of your work would come.

I didn't see any of the link programs that include an import function (certainly none of the open source ones do). I installed a couple of them to see how they worked, and they are fine for adding one link at a time. But they are very light on the SEO, import, and other advanced features you get with phpLD.

I'll probably be buying another license for the Joomla site I'm working on (HobbyResource.com) today or tonight. I'll let you know how it goes.
