How To: Import cats & links?

Hi all,
I have a spreadsheet with the columns:
Category - Sub Cat - Title - Link - Description
and 18000 entries.

How do I get this into the database for my directory?

I can do a small section at time using a website that will convert csv to xml and then use the import links function on phpld although that could possibly take me until next year and I still have to add the cats manually..

Would also be willing to help out with the donate jar if it's inside the budget!

if all the columns etc etc are correctly labeled and are setup to go into their respective slots in the insert, you should just be able to go into phpmyadmin and import it.

I probably should have stated that im an absolute dum dum when it comes to databases!

which A LOT of people do not understand, nor do. same goes for importing links and the seq num to them too.

a perfect example would be this: http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3186

if you ran that for your categories and never planned to ever add another category then you'd be fine. highly unlikely though, as directories 'grow'.
so since the seq table isn't updated, you're bound to overwrite your categories when trying to add from the admin panel.
