Smarty syntax error: mismatched tag {/if}

I followed the install text that came with the template. After completing I get this fatal error:
Fatal error: Smarty error: [in main.tpl line 110]: syntax error: mismatched tag {/if}. (Smarty_Compiler.class.php, line 2298) in /home3/admin1/public_html/libs/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1092
