Hi,
I just installed the directory at http://www.goodhostingcompanies.com and created a category to test it, but when I click on the category it gives a 404 error. I was able to submit a link and approve it, I just can't view the category page. Does anyone know what the problem might be?
Thanks, Matt

Can you try turning off mod rewrite in admin?
It could be possible there is an issue with it on your server.

Hi,
thanks for the help, it worked. Do you think that the search engine's will index the url's without mod rewrite?
Thanks, Matt

Matt, try contacting your host about it. They more than likely have to set an option in the conf file for your server.

Well I know they support mod rewrite because two of my other sites use it, so this is kind of strange.

Well I got this figured out finally and the problem was kind of strange. I used dreamweaver to upload all of the files, but I finally saw that the .htaccess file didn't get uploaded. I checked the folder on my computer containing all of the files for the directory and the .htaccess was there. I browsed to that folder with dreamweaver to upload it but it wasn't showing up in dreamweaver (but all other files were, still have no idea why the .htaccess wasn't), so I used smart ftp to upload it and now it works :)

I rarely use DW but some WYSIWYG editors and FTP programs and/or certain servers "hide" certain programs like .htaccess by default.
