Ok I enabled the PR to show next to each link, but the bar doesn't show, it only shows the PR 4 or PR 0 etc.

You know that green bar on the bottom, how do I fix this?

Unfortunately, google now bans most webservers from checking pagerank.
(Google does not allow automated queries, and does not provide pagerank in their api)
We do have a pagerank updater tool for 3.0 users. You have to export a csv, delete some fields, run the script, and then paste a sql command into phpmyadmin.

So how did the other users get it to work??

Use the Search feature on the forum. There is a lot of information about this topic. Just search for pagerank.

I am saying that Google is blocking your webserver from checking pagerank, and that is why your pagerank bar is showing n/a for your links.

There are 3 solutions:
1) Use the Pagerank Updater tool from your desktop
2) Find a webserver that is not blocked (at least 90% are blocked these days)
3) Turn off PageRank display.

I think mines don, my current one does, the ones that show N/A are from my old host but I backed up the files.

If you look, some do show the PR.

No, Im not talking about the PR. Im talkin about the pr BAR. you noe that rectangle bar that has the little green line in the middle.

Ah, well what is the url of your page, so we can have a look?
(guessing missing image files)

Actually, I see it. It is the template.
I don't believe this template contains this.
You might as an experiment try replacing the link.tpl file with the one that comes with the default package.

ewwharhar

Oh ok. Ill try that
EDIT:// i tried to replace the link.tpl file, didn't work.

Is it even legal to show Google's PR Bar in our directories?

Something about Terms of Service? Google API??

Not sure.

Thanks,
Robert

Not sure, but the PR bar isn't showing still, any ideas?

Content visible to registered users only.

I am not aware of any cases where google asked a site to stop displaying the pagerank of a page. Since this is publicly available information, it would be somewhat difficult for google say that you could not share something that is in the public domain. What google does say is automated queries are not allowed. In addition, the api does not provide pagerank.

Yes, paste the contents of pagerank.tpl and link.tpl using the code feature in vbulletin.

Content visible to registered users only.
He just tried to modify it himself and had code everywhere in the wrong place. closed {if} in wrong place, extra </div> in wrong place.

I had told him to first enable 'show_pagerank' first(he had that off initially)

edit:

his code
Content visible to registered users only.

corrected code
Content visible to registered users only.

Oh, another thing I think would be best for everyone, is to use 2 separate files:

1 for featured links.
1 for normal links.

it makes things a lot easier on the coding eyes, and also allows more diversity when wanting to manipulate a specific type of link (e.g. featured or normal)

anon

Also, find another type of naming convention. instead of using name.name.tpl

use name-name.tpl

I'm going to go in after this post and fix things so that only featured listings show an Alexa thumbnail, while normal listings dont.

anon, my site is messed up, waht did you do??

This is what its showing

Content visible to registered users only.

If you posted that, that freaked me out for a moment, I changed the password cuz I thought someone was on my site till I was here, and seriously, something messed up and now I don[t even noe what the password is to my cpanel, I have to wait for my host to get on so they can reset it for me.

Next time, can you at least warn me before you go on my account? I appreciated your help and all that but sometimes, it freaks me out, and im still worried right now. And I cant go on my cpanel, my fault =|

I just have a lot of stuff to do.

I am currently working on:

1. a 3.04 template
2. a 3.041 template
3. dealing with clients
4. answering instant messages
5. personal things(life outside of phpld)

I can get overwhelmed sometimes, and, quite honestly, get extremely frustrated.

I can't stand to see directories getting ripped and shredded apart by people 'suggesting' fixes.
It's an either you do know, or you don't know deal.

It's not wise at all to go on a 'he says/she says' basis for getting things fixed.

looks like your server has been disallowed to poll for pr.

use David's PR updater tool. register for the support forum ($10) and acquire it there.
