I am trying to place metatags on my directory www.postdotcom.com.
Whenever I place the code on top of the main.tpl or index.php, the directory links on the page increase its size and looks messy.
Where and what am I suppose to modify so I can place my meta tags?
I tried placing it in header.tpl and it worked, I checked the meta tag checkers and they appear. Does that work?
Please reply. Thank You :p

put your metas in the header.tpl ...between <head></head>
what version are you using?
If you have a compressed output, some metacheckers can`t read it

i left the smarty code there, and nothing changed page wise ( no giant letters) but is this what was supposed to be done?

Leave the smarty code there, it's used to call to the code for the meta tags to display on the browser.
Correct me if I am wrong, but 2.0 has the System > Edit Settings > Site where you can put all of this in there, that is where the smarty code comes in place.

no meta tags though, just site description.
any idea why my robots.txt file would be empty?

The file is left blank for your use of changing. You can use mine, but make changes to yours if you need to.

is there a method for what you put in there to get your site crawled completely? or to aid in getting your site indexed faster?
Im new to this aspect of websites so forgive the dumb ass questions.

There is no real "index faster" because every search engine has it's run time of when to crawl or index a site. Say if a spider is sent out every 7 days on a index, follow which the owner sets it to for all pages to be located.
The spider leaves and gives the engine the information it's gathered up. Now, how your site is tagged really makes a difference in how the spider gives results. If you have no description, no keywords, or index, follow then it will basically just visit and gather what it can and leave.
Have a look at http://www.submitexpress.com and view their Free Tools and use the Metatag Generator so you can get your site crawled correctly.
Note: Search Engines update everyday, or every 2 days, depending on how much information the spider gathers.
