Am I totally that tired or is the demo for newstopic looking exactly like the one for phpld? Is there any way to play around in the admin side of things to see how it works? Perhaps an older version or something?

Well, you can customize the look and feel, but NewsTopica is different because it deals with RSS feeds. I will PM you admin login.
