I'm thinking about starting a directory and am curious as to how much money can be made. I know this is a broad question so let's say my site is recieving 200-300 uniques a day. Lets also assume that I have included google adsense across the bottom of my site.

Also, what level of traffic would make a webmaster want to purchase a featured link or pay for a submission? What services does a paid directory offer that most free directories don't?

I know that these are broad questions but if someone could answer them in part, in whole or point me to information regarding starting a directory I would appreciate it.

First off, traffic is all about your offers, what kind of tools, information and supplies do you have that makes your site worth buying from.

Secondly, Free VS Paid is also a run into with what I said above this line. Paid offers more for their viewers and buyers, if you go to a site and they offer nothing but categories and links and they want you to buy from them, I don't think you would, but everyones different in what they do with their money.

Resources are very important to webmasters and those who are professional advertisers. I've been in the business of advertising for 7 years and doing real well on my site so far for it being up in 2 weeks.

Production holds a lot of food in it's plate when it comes to giving your buyers what they want the most.

Pretend you're a viewer on a directory, and you want to buy a product, say a text ad on the header or footer for 10-25 dollars a month, the site has links placed every where and the informaiton is good, ok, but do they have service, do they have great traffic that they promise even themselves they will get.

it's a table with folded cards on their faces and you as the webmaster should focus on customer supplies before you offer anything, because that's where it takes place and where it drives more people back to your site.
