1. add your site to directories.
2. join forums/sites relative to your directory
3. contact sites that would advertise on your directory and ask them about linking to you.
4. Join forums relating to your site and post your link there, keep the link in your signature.

I started actively seeking out links about 2 weeks ago and have gotten around 30-40 links to my site coming in now, with about 10-12 of them being PR3-5 which will help me out soon enough. Also I post my link in forums about Mixed Martial Arts usually in every 3rd or 4th post i make and so far today those links have brought me 280 visits.

Just make sure you actually have content to give to the people who find you. I had to manually add the first 300 links to my directory.

thank you sir. im just trying to get a good PR with the next update, hopefully i have created enough inbound links and reciprocals to work well for me.

also i went to www.topdirectories.info (http://www.topdirectories.info) and added my site manually to the first 150 directories. As a side effect of this and my other efforts i have already jumped into the top 45 on their top 100 list of internet directories. =] in the 1 week ive been listed there.

Btw. I found this neat little site last night www.effectivebrand.com (http://www.effectivebrand.com) It allows you to make a custom toolbar for your site for free. I created 2 for 2 of my sites last night and already have gotten 85 installs total. It allows you to put your own logo on it so it gets your name out there aswell. The google PR feature is also there but ive read that it doesnt work so well yet, but i will add it soon.

VERY cool tool this is. I'll check it out and give it a try on my free time.

Just a small note to those who have top site lists buttons, (and I know a friend of mine has 3 of them, but not to bash him in any way or those who have them on their sites to) but visitors love information, and one thing that annoys a lot of them (depending on their taste in sites) is that owners who have buttons on their sites with top site lists usually enjoy looking at numbers rather than focusing on the main goal for the site which is "Customers Best Quality" for the site they visit.

I am not saying at all that you guys don't think about the customers and viewers you have, but this is just a thought for you to think about because people do see it differently as a "How many hits am I getting" and worried that if they don't get enough hits they won't stay at the top.

So please just know that even a viewer such as myself are annoyed by those kinds of addons to the site. Again, please know that this is not to bash anyone running these buttons on their sites, it's just a thought for you to make your site look clean and more professional for those that want an honest looking company to hand their money to.

I would offer only recip's free but I know that when I'm submitting if it's required for submission I'll moove onto the next directory. Granted it's all copy paste but, I could submit to two more directory's in that time.

yeah im almost at 200 installs in the first 24 hours, and I have people bumping the threads on the forums I posted about it on for me. 100% positive feedback,.

If you do one aswell for your niche directory make sure to post about it on forums related to your topic and believe me you will get an overwhelming response.
