View Full Version : Many validation problems

After upgrading to v4.1 I have had many problems with the directory and its really frustrating

1) if I do a validation run (well this could have existed longer since I have not done one in a while) it finds some sites as inactive yet they ARE active and working. When i try and edit them, and save the changes, it says Please fix this field under the URL field even though it is correct. first of all, there really shouldn't be that detailed a check from the ADMIN area, thats just wrong we should be able to add whatever we want without these checks. second, it seems as if there are certiain domain extensions that the admin area just does not like. These are

.on.ca and .fr the admin area just wont validate them. (possibly .nl as well)

Also, if a sine redirects internally to a shop page or something like that the admin page again will not let me ad the root URL.

2) a large protion of my listings appear to have lost their information (description, meta tags etc...) but only if I try and go into more details on the listing on the public side OR if i try and edit it in the admin. But the info does show on the summary pages so the info IS still there, its just not reporting/showing correctly and this is hit or miss it does it on some but not others.

3) on the edit screen there are 3 javascript errors when i try and edit a listing

Webpage error details User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; GTB6.6; InfoPath.2; .NET CLR 3.0.04506.30; .NET CLR 3.0.4506.2152; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 2.0.50727)Timestamp: Tue, 1 Mar 2011 16:13:13 UTC

any ideas or thoughts on how to solve ther above issues would be greatly appreciated.

1. remove the validation check if you want to
2. run the installer once more and make sure that all the files in the templates updated
3. does it stop you from editing?

james thanks for the reply.

1) how?
2) i will try that and report back
3) the backend stuff should not be template related since i didn't customize the admin area at all

You can remove any validation by editing the php file to remove the validator you do not want.

ok so i re-ran the install, that did not fix anything.

oh goody more hacks for something that really shouldn't need it. You should not be validating on the admin side of things or at least have the option to turn that off...

what file should I edit and how do i know which part pertains to the extension of the domain or the redirect checks and ALSO how do i know whick part pertains only to the ADMIN area?

i see this in validate_functions but no idea how to edit it to include the missing domain extensions or even if its the right thing to edit.....

I think you may want to go to using 4.0 if you are having that hard of a time with it.

I am not going to debate about what is or what is not or should be.

You have had 5 years of updates right so you should have copies of several versions?
Perhaps go back to a version that does exactly what you want.

No posting of the paid version code is allowed outside of the paid version forum.

You can renew access at anytime from your phpLD user account

Why exactly would I pay more for something that has these issues, paying for the support forum would still not solve them... and seriously if you responded properly the first time I would not have had to paste any code. I am shocked no one else has the issue of adding .fr domains or .on.ca domains.... going back to an old version is very helpful thanks.

where is this located to add in more extensions?

and when i purchased the script it said no where that its good but only for 5 years, and after that I will get a lot of attiude if I comment about problems with the script and ask for help.

What we have said was that UPDATES would be provided to the next release number yet we still gave them
Like I said You can go back to any version that you liked better you have had access to them for 5 years.
However the version your purchased is still good :p and the how many other releases that you got for no charge since then..

well they are still good also :P

I personally can add domains no problem to my installs

www.searchontario.gov.on.ca/
www.afnic.fr/

both added and edited fine for me

Please remove all non phpLD links from your signature.

Now with that said ..... I like the idea of your directory :p

If you want to pm me admin and ftp I will yank the validation from the edit link page
