View Full Version : Can't submit links
Hi,
I just downloaded and installed the tarball over RC4:
{svn link removed - no longer in use}
and because I had a problem with the validation of reciprocal Links I desabled "Require reciprocal link" in the admin panel.
Now I have a new problem. The submission form doesn't add any links at all
if visitor add a link in "Reciprocal Link URL:" field.
Any ideas how to fix it? I'd prefer to validate reciprocal links, but if it isn't
possible will be good if I visitors can at least submit links without this function.
I read many posts in the forums, but I didn't find any solution.
URL to the site: http://www.exchangelinks.info/links/ .
Thank you!
I tried yktan's modification in this post {link to old forum removed}
but it didn't help.

I have that problem also Seems like that is a common problem
Oops- sorry- I am using RC5 2.1.
I actually don't care about checking the backlink- I can do myself -but I would like the reciprocal link location.
My work around was to disable the "check link/require reciprocal link" function in the script. However- if you put anything in the reciprocal field at all will not submit.. will just get screen refreshed with "continue" button. If you leave that reciprocal field blank then no problem- you get a thanks and please submit another link. So I did put a note in that say- please leave blank.
Then I could send out generated e-mail requesting the link location. But I don't think this will have great results and also time consuming. I have thought about just using the directory and putting in a different submit script - which I may do if I can't fix.
I like the look of this script and how easy it is to change templates but this submit problem is a big one for me.

I have a coupe of php guys I know trying to fix problem in "spare" time and if I ever get fix I will be happy to post.

Hi, I've looked all over for a fix for this. Has it been done, yet? Thanks, anyone, for your time! :wink:
my problem had to do with host- Godaddy- they do not allow remote connections/fsockopen. So found new hosts and works great now.

It's ok now...I'd added the mod that counts characters in the description, so when I uploaded the original submit files to overwrite the mod it righted itself. :D

You seem to have replied to a thread from 2005. :)
Let me guess. You are on GoDaddy?
What version of phpLD are you running?

Godaddy is not actually that well known outside North America unless you have quite a considerable web presence or been around on the net for some time, so it's not that suprising some people have not heard of it. In fact, even the domain of godaddy dot co dot uk (Which forwards to dot com) has an invalid web certificate, which is not that good for a hosting company!
