Is there a mod for automatically banning/creating a blacklist of keywords in the URL description?
Enough of those "Enlarge your penis", and "viagra" offers! :mad: :eek:

hm.. the ban-function in 3.05 is not really functional, i think...
(maybe i dont understand the function)
i tried to ban a domain.. (somewhat.info) and next day i get a new submission with this domain...
submissions did stop, when i banned the complete ip-range in .htaccess

hmm I haven't really used the feature as of yet. I'll do some tests and see if I get same results.

Thank You Steve, you're the one who supports me here! :)
2 Neticus: I mean the "bad words" function like in the phpBB. If someone will enter "Enlarge your penis" during the registration the system puts him into the black-list. But black-list doesn't contains IP banning only, Descriptioption banning also has to be.

Right ok I see, sorry for misinterpretation. :)
Yes I guess prevention is better than cure. It would stop a percentage of spammers from submitting thus decreasing the number of such time wasting reviews in admin. Every little helps. :)
was just about to request this...
it would free up ALOT of time for me
ban insurance
ban debt
ban enlargement
ban pharmacy
and approval rate rises!

I had a blogspot.com, but it's actually really funny to read, so I'll leave that one, but all others I think I'll block as they lead to huge spam from their indexed pages.

but usually they are adsense only sites :eek:

I was thinking of this today,
I'd like to add the ability to say if it's a free link to not allow subdomains or deep pages but, if it's a featured link to allow it.
While I'm getting alot of crap i'd like not to include this is my biggest hassle because even if I check and re check some still get through.

i would love for regular listings to only be able to submit top level domains
while featureds can submit sub-pages and third/fourth level domains
droolingmnky

So we want
Checking the URL and Description for 'blacklisted words'
ability to disallow subdomains / deep pages for certian link types (free, no recip, featured)
ability to disallow certian categories for certian link types (just like above)
ability to black list an email address / name
Have all these checks done before the information is entered into the database. IE when broken it tells them that they cant do it, and forces them to change or not to submit.miss any thing?

Well, looks like droolingmnky has this WELL planned out :D I like the plan you pulled together. Hopefully Boby will reply in the next 6 hours to let us know what he thinks, plus he'll probably go ahead and add this to the 3.06 coming up soon.

Submissions: 150
**censored****censored****censored****censored** sites subitted: 2
Empty descriptions submitted: 3
Non top level domains submitted: 7
Main category submissions: ~20
Total sites that actually got approved: 44
Time wasted: 2 hours
I've had some time to think, and was actually going to post a request like this once I got done.
OK guys, I will do it but I can *not* promise it will be available in 3.0.6
I still have some left items for 3.0.6 that are more important.
Optional I could maybe release something like 3.0.61, we will see how quick I'm ready with it.

Great topic and features, but no reply to the July 2006 update request.
Is this still in the works? done? dead? If it's dead - hopefull can be revived, because this would be incredibly useful.
PS - I'd also add:
* Casinos / Gambling
* Pharmacies and specific **censored****censored****censored****censored**s
* Adult sites
* Bollywood
* Microscopes
and a few other.
