How long is the sandbox? I have never had this much trouble getting site listed.

It has links, it has content.

I made a web hosting site 2 months after my one and it's already listed using the free version of this script and it's only got 1 entry in it - but prestigedealer.com is apparently not being listed for some weird reason -
if anyone else has had trouble and solved it please tell me what you did. I think it's been at least 4 months now.

I have heard of sites being sandboxed for 8 months or more, but this never experienced it.

Funny thing is I have number 1 listing in Yahoo, and am on page 1 of MSN and Number 3 alta vista for what thats worth - about $10 :D
.
If anyone can shed some real light on this it would be good.

Google sometimes needs very very much time to index the first time a homepage.
My previous homepage was not indexed for about 8 months, but I have promoted it as much as I could and then it jumped directly to PR 5.
My current homepage was also not listed for about 4 months in Google, but Yahoo and MSN indexed it after a few days.

Just be patient with Google, re-submit your site every 2 - 3 weeks, submit a sitemap and always check your sitemap account, you will find a lot of infos there if there is any reason why Google cannot spider your pages.

i doubt having a sitemap will help in any way getting your site listed on google . In my opinion , it only helps google understand the site structure after it is a already listed site and the frequency of changes / revisit for the google bot .
I would suggest getting your site's url linked from other sites which are regularly indexed .

The main thing is getting links to your site.
If you do a good job with this, it will get indexed.

@Minute. Add your site to PR3+ sites, then submit to Google, MSN, Yahoo, & Altavista, though I think Altavista & yahoo are linked together in the submission area.

But submit your site to all PR3+ directories or PR4+ and m ake sure that the pages are getting a lot of traffic as this plays a HUGE role for your link. For example, if you signed up with a forum that has PR3 or PR4 on EVERY page, (and I mean "Every" page) and in your signature you have your main site link in it, the spiders will crawl that page that has a PR3-4+ and index it VERY quickly.

Now it may take around 2-3 days (That's where I am right now on my indexing with all major search engines) but it's worth it. Also, because these pages on the forum have this PR, you want to make as MANY posts as possible, but make them quality posts because every post counts as you represent that link you have in your signature.

Hope this helps :)

Content visible to registered users only.
It helps to have a sitemap, not only Google knows what new pages you have but in your sitemap account you can track errors and see what is indexed, what is crawled, what erros, etc.

Boby, i have a question about the sitemaps.

for example, on my fsbo site i have 2.6 million categories. i seriously doubt phpld can handle that. But once I can really get back to that site, there are going to be a hell of a lot more cats in there.

Would you suggest I write my own script to output the sitemap?

Bobby - I disagree . Read here (http://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/docs/en/about.html) :
Content visible to registered users only. and i have found this to be valid over time .

Anon , i have not yet used the sitemaps created by phpLD . but this would give you a idea on what you should be looking for hopefully . http://sitemaps.blogspot.com/2005/08/using-sitemap-index-files.html

@ Anon

I hope 3.0.6, but maybe a further version will handle any amount of categories. If I have time I'll do it for 3.0.6, if not later.
This is one of my items on the todo list ;)

@ arindra

I did not said Google will definatly crawl all pages in your sitemap! I know those pages and what's written there. But have you tried to use your sitemap account at Google. I had to manage a huge forum of a friend of mine because it was not crawled well, when I checked the sitemap account I could track all errors Google encountered during their crawl, and could fix them. It not only gives you the option to track errors, but also see stats about what's crawled, what's indexed, etc.
It was a suggestion, I did not said you *really* have to use it.

Content visible to registered users only.
excellent. that should do the trick.

i will just script to create each individual main category and all subsequent coresponding sub cats and create individual sitemaps that i'll index in a sitemap of sitemaps.

thanks mucho!

@Boby

looking forward to seeing what you can come up with.

Bobby i am not disagreeing with you fully . i only disagreed on the point " site getting out of sandbox " .

Anon : u r welcome :) mine is to be a niche directory so probably not that many cats and subcats , the default SM with phpLD would do for me easily , i guess ... but if in future i need to build a large directory , i hope i get a discount on the script you build ;)

Content visible to registered users only.
the funny thing is mine *is* niche. crazy eh? I'll probably wind up wth about 12mil cats, because the directory is broken down to a precision.

I know of a way to get your site indexed by Google fairly quickly. Do a google search for your full url http://..etc if your page does not come up you will see If the URL is valid, try visiting that web page by clicking on the following link followed by the url you searched for. Click on that link and usually withing 1 or 2 days your page will be indexed!

I have done this several times with new sites and know of others who have done it and so far it always works.

i am sure he must be using some programming / running querries for creating them and not by hand like me . isn't it ?

about a week ago my site hit No 1 in Google.- Yahoo and MSN and it's PR3

I had submitted it to so many directories that Google must have thought something was up.

Peace Out

I've just got to learn to be patient.
