Bilingual Directory

I was wondering if I could build bilingual directory where I could basically divide the directory into two mayor categories, English and Spanish, and then each of these mayor categories would have its own mini-directory where all the text would be by default English or Spanish depending on which of these two sections the user would be.

Would I need a mod for this or there is already a mod done?

Also, for links descriptions, I would probably need to create a extra field called something like Spanish descriptions, and that's where I'd use the link.tpl. Thus, my second question is, for the next upgrade, would I need extra work to do an upgrade with this extra field?
