View Full Version : dmoz, how long will approve
hi, i know this is off topic, so i hope i wrote on correct category
would like to know anyone's experience about submitting to dmoz (any site, doesn't have to be phpld)
How long did it take for your site appear in dmoz?
Anyone waited for weeks (or months???) and still not got responded?
Just wondering. thx.

You can wait months or it may never show. Human editors are **censored****censored****censored****censored**le beings.

as most submitted sites never get listed, the wait can be forever. However, I do recall seeing a statistic a few yrs ago from DMOZ (not sure if it still true today), but of those sites that do get listed, 50% were never submitted in the first place (so their wait time was zero). Of those that are submitted and get listed, ~50% are listed within 3 months ... the rest can take yrs.
I submitted a site a month ago (can't remember), recently an editor from dmoz visited my site, I know because I have some web stat tracking.
I really wonder if that editor has added my site, or ignored my site (it's not phpld).

Content visible to registered users only.
I've had this happen as well, you can assume that it was not included. I have only a few sites that have been included, but one site that was accepted took almost 2 years before it was reviewed and included - there was no editor assigned to the category.
I'm not sure if a DMOZ listing holds as much SEO weight as it used to, so I've not submitted any sites recently...

I have seen, so many creepy and spam sites are being listed in Dmoz as new listing. It is very strange and abnormal because good/nice sites never listed or heard from them. They are also not sending any kind of mail regarding site rejection or any alert like this. They are creating suspenseful atmosphere for all.

It took us a couple of years to get listed. I don't get the impression DMOZ is run very well any more. That's unfortunate.

There is a huge issue with the editors of categories
I have heard rumours of if you have $$ you can get in

Just like Google PR, Alexa Rank, Facebook, Twitter..... all way overrated and a complete waste of time in my opinion ;)

@James (http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/forum/member.php?u=2485), Yes that thing, I wanted to clarify. If it is true then and only spam and creepy sites are being listed and good/nice site doesn't listed in Dmoz. I don't think Google has any waitage now a days of Dmoz listing or in future.
