I should probably know the answer to this question; however...I do not. When checking how many sites link back to cyberbilt.com (my directory), I get six. I have submitted to several directories and I am on a few "directory lists"...most notably directorycritic. None of these show as linking back to cyberbilt. Why is this? Should google and others recognize that these are backlinks?

I also have two blogs...both free..one by blogger and one by wordpress(free version). I have links in both to cyberbilt and neither of these show as linking back either. I fear that very soon I'm going to have a drop in my PR and that wouldn't be good.

Questions continued - Would anyone like to trade links? I would prefer sites with a PR of 4 or above and would like to be in the footer...I will provide the same in trade.

Google doesn't ever show all your backlinks. Yahoo and MSN are better to check backlinks in.

In MSN, http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=link%3Ahttp%3A//www.cyberbilt.com/+-site%3Acyberbilt.com

The first link showing is Directory Critic.

Yes, PortProphecy is definitely right. I usually check links using MSN.
There is no rhyme or reason to the links presented in google. They purposely choose not to show all links to help prevent SEOs from "gaming" them. In my opinion, this goes against there purpose, and does not provide the best possible results.

Thanks to both of you for the info. I should know more about SEO at this point...something I will have to work on.

Yet another question - I've received several hits from directorycritic...can anyone recommend other "directory lists" that I can opt in? I'm familiar with idesn.org but they won't take me yet....to many empty cats.
