I apologize if these have been asked before, but I am buying for three to five licenses for different sites and each one has different needs so want to try to get them all worked out.

1. Will the rewrite I use in .htaccess cause an issue with the directory software? I rewrite the non www version to the www version.

2. Can I create custom Title, keyword, and description tags for each and every page created?

3. Can I create content for the individual pages? For example have a brief two to paragraph content area, possibly with pictures (for design and SEO purposes)? I would like to put information about "education" put a picture of a teacher or something of that nature. On two of my sites it is a directory, but it is an informational directory.

4. Can links outside of the directory be interlaced? What I mean is part of the link structure on each page should take people to pages within the site, but that have nothing to do with the "directory" per se. Like I am going to create an articles section that is part of the site, but of course not the directory.

5. Can I give the option for new posters to either pay to have a listing or offer a link back to another site of mine? Also will it give them the code?

6. Do you offer basic installs so that I can concentrate on the graphical design and building the infrastructure?

Thanks,

James

Hello and welcome!

1) That's no problem.

2) Yes you can. Basicaly you define title, keywords and description for each category. When you browse a category that has title, keywords and descriptions defined these values are used, else a global value is used.

3) You can do that, but a custom module is needed (1,2 hours of work, maybe less). I'm sure someone is willing to help you.

4) I'm not sure what you mean...

5) Yes

6) Yes, someone here can install the software for you. But it's really no big deal, upload the content, change some permissions, go through a installer where you add username, password, database info and you're ready.

Boby,

Thank you for replying. Sorry for not getting back sooner, but never received the notification

One last question is it possible for the listings within each category to have a picture included and maybe some ad text? So the picture would be to the left and than the link to their site with their anchor text, and than some ad text below that?

Secondly I would like to be able to allow the person signing up their site to choose different predetermined categories and/or keywords associated with their ad. For example if it is about cars I want to be able to offer up twenty or so keywords for them to choose that fits their individual site. For example if they are about "Fords" than they click the little radio button that says fords. It could be that these are also categories on the site, which brings me to my third point and that is I would like to have the person sign up once, select their predetermined keywords, which will also be categories, at least most of them, and than have the software list them, once we approve them to be listed in each of those categories. For example a site about Mustangs would go under the Ford and Mustangs category as well it may go under performance parts. Is this something that is currently available? I guess I am kind of looking at this as hybrid between a directory and a partial classifieds program. If this isnt part of the site how much would it cost to get this change made... ? Thanks

James

I think this is going to involve changes to quite a few files.
Someone may feel there is a simple way, but in my opinion, it sounds like a good 20 hours of work for somebody.
Anyone else want to comment?
