Hi,

I notice that the new version is now available (2.0.0 RC5.2 ).

I am very pleased with my current version and I only want to upgrade one thing which is the requeirement of IDs in the reciproical linking. I read somewhere that this is no longer needed in this version.

I downloaded but I want to know which exact file this is changed and maybe even the part of the file, this as I have made many changes on the files in my dir which I don't want to overwrite. Thanks.

Hi Jim,

I just paid for a site wide on your site for IncorporateEasy.com
Unfortunately, I will not be able to use the subscription method, but if you will let me know when the next payment is due, I will pay for 3-4 months in advance.

Thanks,
David

Hi David,

so it was you! I have sent you an e-mail, just let me know the 3 anchor words and the link will be up!
Yes I e-mail you before I take down the link and ask for renew.

BTW, any idea about this link ID?

I know Casey has been pointed at it more than once. I know David knows about it. With numerical IDs in link anchor tags the pages will never validate and that isn't good for "business", so I know it's being worked on . . . vkaryl has a thread on it somewhere on the board, but I'm sleepy and not all with it enough to point you there . . .

I did not speak about the validation as that is not my main problem.

As the above quite sais from David the recip ID is now optional. However I don't know which file I should change in the new version.

Thanks.

Do you want me to help you get upgraded to 5.2?
I'd be happy to do that. Maybe you can add a few normal links to your directory in exchange?

As far as the changed files, there are probably several. I would guess functions.php, a few admin template files, and the files associated with the submit page.

Hi.

No, actually I don't want to upgrade as it is working well as it is. Thank you anyway.

I was just wondering if there was a simple change to get rid of the ID thing in the reciprocal linking.

BTW, now getting 40 submissions a day ...

What's the point having ID's and what's the point not having ID's? Will rec links work with just one or both and what about the approval? I just don't get it. :?:

Hello Jim, sorry for the delay I had some personal things come up and I've just been able to bring myself to really work lately. Life tends to throw us curveballs sometimes, and it's been like that for awhile now.

Anyway, I'll write up how to disable the ID's or even install that patch for you.

I don't mind considering you've waited so long.

Thanks

-Casey

You did not answer my question, sir.

Ah, sorry. I didn't really see it.

I've not really spoken to dcb about why he did that, I'm pretty sure it's for tracking purposes and prob to make validating easier IMHO.

I've had some tell me it works with just the link, while others say it doesn't and wont unless you put the rec ID in the href.

So do I have a definitive answer? Nope! Seems either everyone is so different or some have no idea what they're doing Haha!

If you have anymore questions, yell at me on IM sometime.

later

Thank you Casey. No problem. I just wanted it gone as it doens't look professional and at a first glance it looks like a dynamic URL.

Thought it would be something simple to change, if it is too much work then skip it, it works fine as it is.

I agree, a straight forward backlink URL would be better, but I don't want to risk the hits in counting function, so I'd rather stick to keep up going with the ID's.

Casey, I don't use the reciprocal links thing. Don't wanna, don't want to trash my googly goodness. SO- since I don't need any id NUMBERS in my link hrefs is there some way I can remove them and get a VALIDATING page? (well, except where there happens to be an unencoded ampersand, of course)

There is a bit of confusion going on here.

Jim is right on in what he's asking, he's talking about the Rec Url in the submit.php.

Nobody and BJ are talking about another topic concerning the numbers in the ID field for the individual links.

Lets please keep to Jim's topic, as to prevent thread hijacking and confusion for others who'll be reading this.

Thanks all.

Now onto Jim, I have no problem doing it for you, but if you don't want to then I'll write it up shortly.

Thanks

-Casey

Casey love,

I'm talking about that rec link you receive on the sumbit page. I'd like to get rid of it it doesn't actually do anything to the script. Though, if it's necessary when counting hits in from rec links, of course I'd like to keep just there.
