I am in the early stages of setting up a directory, and when I upgraded from RC4 to RC5.2, my regular links disappeared, though featured links remain.

An example of this manifestation is here:
http://www.colorado-family-law.com/directory/military/

I can also send a screen shot of the problem.

Thanks for any assistance.

Carl.

Updating to RC5.1 or 2 doe not work.
Links are gone and in index page instead of the direcory name and page description are displayed the link title and the link description of the desired reciprocial link....a real mess indeed.
I tested updating first with all previouse releases until 5...but in all cases no luck...after installing 5 the above problems appear

This is very strange, I've not had this issue yet.

Can I get FTP details PM'd to me from one of you?

I'd like to check out the files and see what's up. If I can fix it for one, more than likely it'll help fix for all.

Thanks

-Casey

Is there any way this can be a permissions problem on some of the folders, maybe didn't carry over the permissions in the upgrade?

I see what you are talking about. We would love to take a look at this, so it would be great if you can get some ftp/db details to us. It sounds like there may be an issue in the upgrade.

Latest links and Top hits works. I see links there.

But not in the categories.

I just upgraded to RC5.2 and my links no longer display on the public side of the site! The database appears to be fine. Like Tobab, I DO see latest links and top hits. Is this a template issue, or a script issue?

For those of you that upgraded successfully, what did you do?

Tobab, you said you fixed it by using the install files and overwriting. The upgrade procedure I took was the same: I overwrote my old files with the new package (except for config.php), then ran the installer and did the database upgrade.

Any ideas for how I can get my directory back online?

Thanks!
SAM :)

UPDATE: That was a bit too painful. I've reinstated the old database and RC4 files, and will wait for a more stable release to have the admin email notification.

Hello Casey--

Thank you for the quick response! Unfortunately, I can't distribute any FTP info for this server for legal reasons.

Could these upgrade problems be caused by PHP running in CGI mode? Also unfortunate, but I can't do much about that--running it as an Apache module automatically turns on safe mode, which I don't want.

cheers
SAM :)

Easy way to do this is test it this way.

Create a new folder, upload the new version to it and run the install. Use the same DB from your current install, that way it adds the new things it needs to the DB. Check your orginal, see if the links appear.

Let me know.

-Casey

PS
I've had issues on servers running the CGI

Thanks Casey, I will try this test, though I can't get to it right away. If any new information presents itself doing this test, I'll be sure to post the details!

cheers

Hi so here is what happens:
I extract the new version 5.1 or 5.2 to a new folder run the installation and set the old database. Everything is fine ... links display correctly etc., but as I already described instead of displaying DIRECTORY_NAME from the settings in admin panel it displays the setting of the title for my reciprocial link and the description....also in the directory path in the blue navigation bar...
There is no such problem with 5.0. Please advice.
Thank you in advance

I also forgot to mention that I made a backup of the old version in a separate folder and it seems to still run ok after the datrabase update....no wrong titles etc.

Hey Phil, I'd like to have a look at the files / DB.

If you're interested, PM me the login details and I'll take a look later this evening.

Thanks
