I'm a little perplexed at the installer - I can enter NOTHING in the mysql database details page and it merrily continues...

I've tried to run through the installer at least 5 times before I was just about to give up and I thought... what about using internet exploder... bingo! It worked!!!!

Your installer doesn't want to play ball with Firefox 1.0.6 on my system though - I was THAT CLOSE to tossing the script and moving onto another...

Hello there--

Sorry to hear of your frustrating experiences! I managed to use the installer to *upgrade* phplinkdirectory using Firefox 1.0.6. I didn't experience any browser-related issues.

Out of curiousity, have you tried installing with a different browser?

cheers
SAM :)

Same here, I've installed and upgraded and done a lot of Dev work on FF 1.0.6

Sounds odd, maybe some security settings on your system are getting in the way?

Let us know anything you find out, thanks for bringing it to our attention.

I just installed the most recent version, and though I had other problems, installing it in FireFox 1.0.6 was not one of them, the installation went very smoothly. FF 1.0.6 in win2k btw. I know vkaryl runs xppro and I think ff1.0.6. It has to be something in your particular config . . .

Well, OP did note that he used "exploder" and it went fine.... but yes, I've installed a dozen times using FF1.0.6 (with a seemingly INFINTE number of customizations and extensions, btw!) on XP Pro, on my local apache server as well as on two different host servers online.

yes, I tried another browser and it worked... perhaps it is my setup - if others haven't experienced the same, then I would imagine that something is wonky on my system, but I've installed many hundreds of scripts from the machine I was using at the time, and never encountered anything quite like it...

As I said, Internet EXPLORER 6 worked fine...

The machine is:

windows xp sp2
firefox 1.06

does it perhaps use cookies in a manner which might be considered "third-party" - as I have tp cookies disabled...

I'm otherwise fairly impressed - although the system runs a little "sluggish" - especially for a dual processor server with only about a dozen or so websites on it... I'm wondering what it would be like when I get several thousand links into it...

What is the system like in terms of database queries - because I'm currently running mysql on a server in chicago, while web server is in Boulder, CO - that would be PART of latency, although I don't see problems on a couple of large osCommerce sites setup in the same way...

One of my installs has almost 8k categories, with about 75k links and it seems fine on the frontend, but the backend is slow. Hopefully I'll be able to get mine optimized, so I can help everyone. I've just not had the time.

Hi,

I've the same problems with firefox, installer & site submit doesn't work...

so I take a look at the TCP pakets and found a little difference between exploder and firefox...

exploder sends only 1 TCP paket..

firefox sends 2 TCP pakets, first the POST Request, and then a HTML Data paket with the querystring

mayby this info can help you to find the problem...

I'm going to have to run by the submission process - if it's not firefox friendly, I'd like to know how/why...

Um, er . . . but it is firefox friendly, at least on almost all configs. Certainly you can see that from reading this thread?
