free version, adding header footer left and righttpl to html pages

ive tried making new pages using php from the complete mod pages, and it worked fine, the header and footer showed up, but when i tried adding stuff in html it errors out, i can add plain words fine, but coding errors out. i dont know php very well, html just the basics.
how can i add the header, footer, left and rightside.tpl into my html pages?
heres an example i want it added to
www.internetfluff.com/somethingfun (http://www.internetfluff.com/somethingfun)
(please excuse the popbehind)
what code do i use to get the header and stuff to get on that page or does it absolutely have to be a php page?

I finally got this to work myself, only took my dumb ass 5 hours to figure it out :)

for anyone having trouble adding pages from the mod list or you see that one of the mods isnt working, just try refreshing the page you worked on 2 or 3 times, ive found that sometimes thats all it took(not sure if its my hostings fault or what). i got my new page and a contact page (and both gave errors at first but work now), I still cant get the rating links to work though...doh
