How much would you pay to download a quality phpLD3.x template?
Obviously the advantage of using a paid template would be that a lot few people would be using the template (as it isn't free) and also its a lot cheaper than having something completely custom made designed...
I dont know about v3.x but I can tell you about v2.0/2.1. I guess you'll be able to sell them at around 5 to 15 USD (give or take). The reason to this would be because people can easily find designers who are willing to do a custom template for just < 100 USD. Unless your template is totally unique and it stands out from the rest, you cant expect anything greater than 25+.My 2 cents :)
There are misunderstanding in this post, on the first side we have the users. On the other side we have the directory designers doing free or copyrighted templates,
I like the idea of free templates but if you want to use the template at 100% without the link back (to the template designers site), i think you should pay between 35 - 50$ and this is a STEAL. You know how much i sell my templates design? When i saw you guys said you buy them for just 15$ i had a laugh, i sell them 250$ - 350$ for a custom template design (unique design that noone else got)!
I guess you guys cant afford that lol:D

This is why I started with 2.x, got to know it really well, and will design my own for my new 3.x directory. Pay for a script, sure... I will not pay someone to do something that I could, will, and learn in the process, on my own :) This may have come out all wrong, hehe... What I mean is, if you've done some customizations and some css adjustments on pre-made templates, you CAN make your own template. It may be hard and you may need some help along the way, but it's so worth it. My first directory, and only so far, lol... is so heavily customized from the original, you might not even know, but it feels good when you make a change, it works, AND looks good. Wow, I'm ranting here... lol... hopefully someone gets what I mean... maybe Rob can take my paragraphs and narrow it down to a "straight to the point" ;)

I cliffnotes:
1. i started with 2.0 to learn
2. i have learned a great deal.
3. small changes are not worthy of high prices and can be done with patience and persistance.
4. i love my directory.
5. rob(anon) rocks the casbah!!!
I gotcha! man ;)

Actually, I was talking about selling. I sold two phpLD templates, one for 75 USD and the other one for 100 USD. I dont think it would be possible to sell a v2.x template for 250 to 300$. You can ofcourse contradict me here :D I am working on a new template right now and hopefully I plan to sell it for around 150 USD. Wish me luck ;)

Depends who is the customer and where he lives, and how tough he is in business. I don't think i could sell a template in v2.x for more than 200$ lolll but you understood me when i said 250 - 350 its in V3 and customized :p.
There are so many templates guy out there :p, i see a great future for phpLD, best of luck Naif :D:D
