When attempting to install <http://sinisterforces.info/links2/install/index.php> I immediately get:
Warning: open_basedir restriction in effect. File is in wrong directory in /home/httpd/vhosts/sinisterforces.info/httpdocs/links2/include/config.php on line 40
Fatal error: Failed opening required 'include/tables.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pearPATH_SEPARATOR/home/httpd/vhosts/sinisterforces.info/httpdocs/links2/') in /home/httpd/vhosts/sinisterforces.info/httpdocs/links2/include/config.php on line 40
I've tried giving 777 permissions to the links2 directory, the install, and the include dir. No change.

Well, cdb is going to need to help us, and he went to sleep. :)
He'll be back in a few hours and I'm sure he will help. I know he was really exhausted. I'm having trouble myself.
I'm sorry to frustrate you. We are certainly working to get a public release as fast as possible, but I guess there is that thing known as "sleep" that everyone requires. :)

You're welcome to try an install & debug on that site I set up for you earlier. It's all your's, so don't worry about breaking anything.

I'm going to try to import some data from the config table in the working version at demo2 on this site, and thereby skipping the install process. This might allow us to get it working tonight. I'll let you know if I have success, and then I would be glad to make it work on your server too.

What flavor of Linuz and domain control panel have you tested on?

I'm on cpanel and I believe it is Fedora or Red Hat.
I'm making some progress...

Content visible to registered users only.
Good time to get rid that open_basedir restriction error.
The server is Red Hat Linux with a Plesk control panel. The problem is probably coming from Plesk (just a guess) but, if you fix it here, you'll be fixing it for thousands of other Plesk users.
Good luck.
That test site is dedicated to your debugging. The real install will be on an other site (or sites) when the bug gets zapped.

I'm able to hack my own server, but I think we will need cdb to fix that one problem with install. If I can get phpmyadmin access on your server, I can get you up and running (and bypass the install script), but I guess really we should have cdb fix it in the morning.

thanks for letting us test on your server. It was of real help.
Most of the problems occured because of the php version. The development was done on 4.3 and although care was taken I slipped 2 functions that only work on php 4.3 and your version is 4.2
The open_basedir warinng is a false alarm (because of some tricks I use), and I simply suppressed the error display.
I'll issue pretty soon an update with the fixes applied while testing on your server.
