Help Please - Error code for Submitted URL

Hi, I've just installed the PHP links script on this site:

{url not currently in service}

When i try to test the submit section I get the following error:

The URL could not be validated. Either the page does not exist or the server cound not be contacted.

Can any one help me please??

Try doing a search for "validating url" or something. There's a fix on here somewhere for that IIRC.

tried searching, but nothing found to help other than move the script, which I cant do.

Can anyone else advise??

I contacted my hosting company and this is there responce, and why others may find the same error

Hi Lee,

Sadly this problem is an intentional firewall setup. The reason occurs because we have had a lot of hackers attempting to take over the server using php scripts in users account. Subject phps can download worms or scripts which are then used to bring down the server or comprise other servers.

Looking at your website the URL is dependant who wants to add a link, I obviously would have been able to allow access to a particular URL, but cannot risk unblocking them all. Is there any way you can stop the checker from doing this particular part of the validation and using the image validation only.




So it looks like stopping the url from being checked, but also takes out the option for reciprocal link option.

Is there any thing in the way of a report a broken link option in the script for those of us that have to manually check links because of this problem and having to take out the URL checking??

Hi I just added my site as a test and it seems to have gone ok: Link submitted and awaiting approval.
Submit another link.
