Multiple categories OR quick link duplication

I'd like to be able to easily add links to multiple categories. So, I'd like it if the front end users can choose 2 or 3 categories for a single link instead of just 1.

OR if that's not so easy, I'd like to be able to quickly duplicate links on the back end and specify a different category each time I do it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i would like this too, it is not practical to duplicate links because they fit into more than one category. even if this functionality is only available to the admin it would be a great start. it could be done with a symbolic link like the symbolic categories, but then i would still like the description for the link to show.

any ideas? could the code for symbolic category be modified to function the same for say a symbolic link.

My whole directory is based upon the fact that people can submit their link to up to 3 categories (music genres) so this would help me out tremendously.

If you're ready to pay few $ I can setup multiple categories addon on submission page.
The link if accepted will appear in all selected categories. If it's featured link it remains featured under main category and regular under additional categories.

Phpld doesn't support multiple categories for 1 link by default.
However if you look above you should see my post.

I developed some useful modifications to the script and also MULTIPLE CATEGORIES OPTION for submitted link.

I was looking at that one, but I'm not clear on which of the following it does?

1) Adds multiple categories to a single link, such that all ratings, hits, reviews etc will all show up no matter which category you see the link in.

2) Creates multiple copies of the same link, one for each of the categories selected. In that case, the number of hits and ratings etc would not be shared across the multiple categories since each one is essentially a separate link.

Can you tell me which one of those two methods your mod uses?

Sometimes I do not open it for a day or two, and it's hard to track all posts with possible questions.

You write strange things.
The link in database and in Admin is ONE. It only appears under few different selected by user categories. It has same link detail page.

If you look here:

Same link you have under:
http://www.linkforever.net/Internet/Directories/Deep/
And under:
http://www.linkforever.net/Internet/Directories/Directories_Paid/

This is still 1 link and same link ID - not 3 different links.
Same detail page from all categories.
It's easy to understand that if hitted or rated - it will be counted for same 1 link as there is no other one like that.

Can we make changes in the admin panel? e.g. adding the same link to more categories or removing the same link from a particular category?

Of course you can change, remove, add link in multiple categories from Admin area.

There is a 3rd party add on that does 3 categories per submission. Linkforever.com I think.
