404 error on enable rewrite

I am new to this, i'm sorry to ask a simple question; i installed phpld, everything seems to work fine till i enable rewrite, i copied all files including .htaccess however i get this 404 error when i enable URL rewrite. Can someone tell me what's wrong please :(

Ask your host about their support for htaccess and mod rewrite.
