Default Screenshot Import from File?

Just purchased the screenshot processor. Very nice app. I was wondering. Is the "Import from File" feature working? The instructions say to read from file in the ID[seperator] link line format. Can someone give me an example of what the file should look like? Can it be used to read a list of links from a local file and generate thumbs?

Still trying to connect to my server remotely. Unsure of the IP for mySQL. Opened a help desk ticket with my NOC.

The application can connect either to a MySQL database (if the database server accepts remote connections and your IP address is added in the list of allowed IPs in cPanel) or can import from a local or remote file.

The file format should be ID[separator]Link, where the separator can be chosen from the 'Character used as separator' box. If you select (|) as separator, the file should look something like:

1|http: //www .firstlink.com
2|http: //www .secondlink.com
and so on...

After you import the links from such a file into the application, you will choose all the screenshot options (from the 'Settings' tab) and then click on the 'Start' button. You will have the screenshots genereated on your computer.

Also, you can use a small script that will be placed on the server and will automatically generate the import file for you. If you use such a script, enter the url to it in the 'Remote Url' box. See phplinkdirectory . com/forum/showthread.php?t=24725 for more details.

Thanks for the info.

I created a small txt file containing 3 test links in the format you described (see attached). When I select this file from my local drive and click "Import File" I get:

Cannot open local file for import. Make sure the file exists.

The file is in a correct format and it should work.

Make sure that you select the correct separator from the list and that the file exists on your machine before you click the 'Import File' button

I browsed to the file on my desktop. It added the filename to the local path field. The "|" was selected as a seperator (see attatched screeshot). Get the same error. You know, I beginning to think it's some kind of issue with my system. I'm also having trouble connecting to the server.

At any rate, the software will generate screenshots using the "simple processing" method on the first tab. That's the only functionality I have ben able to get so far.

It could be user error. I know many people here in the forum have been able to use the software without a problem. I'll keep working with it. Please let me know if you think of anything else I can try.

Appreciate the help!

You actually have the very latest release that was added to the download section last night. Radu will likely be along shortly and will have a suggestion. If you wanted to send access to your db server, we could try to help you that way too.

Ok, Radu should also be in contact with you (gave him the info you sent also). If you are still having trouble, please let me know, and I'll see what else can be done.

Hi together,
I downloaded the last version and I'm very happy! I use the export script from k0riz0n and tried the tip from bruce (Screenshot Processor Tip):
I put the script on the server and can use the Screenshot Processor to make screenshots from eg. ID 0 - 1000. (And start several instances in parallel )

So, the program works perfect with a "remote URL".

Ciao,
Mike

We managed to find where this problem came from. It seems that Windows Vista restricts access to the 'c:\users' folder and the application cannot read from it.

It you place the import file in that folder (for example, on Desktop) it is possible to get an error trying to import the file. The solution is to move the import file outside the 'c:\users' directory.

Thanks for all your help Radu! I was able to import the list once I changed the location of the file.

This is a great script and well worth the purchase price. Really saves a ton of time.
