Added May 5th, 2011: Bidding directories are not quite as popular as they were at the time this software was released. There can be some legitimate uses, but we want to mention some precautions. One thing we do not recommend is trying to "game pagerank". What some people have done is buy text links to boost their pagerank and then turn around and offer it to the highest bidder. This is not something we want to advocate, and for that reason, we wanted to be clear by adding this message. Thanks! Finally, here are some thoughts about directories and pagerank.
Bidding Directory Script:
There is bidding directory version of phpLD that allows you to run a bidding site that allows people to bid for position on their links. It seems to be working flawlessly for people that have tried it so far, and we've seen some interesting sites that have found ways to make money by getting people to compete for position through bidding.
This is a free download, but we ask that you retain a link back to phpLD, or pay $50 for link removal.
There are a couple of templates available here and here. Also, if you are experienced with html and css, our templates are pretty simple to edit.
There is also a version available for 3.3.0 users, and can be purchased starting here.
