Newbie RSS question; filtering news feeds

I'm playing with PHPLD and interested in newstopica... but don't know much about news feeds.
I'm setting up a series of local directories for towns in my area, and would like to get news feeds of stories that mention these towns.
I've seen generic news feeds (latest stories, tech topics, etc) but is it possible to select a feed (say general news from washingtonpost.com) but ONLY display news items that mention the name of the town?

Yep, you sure can. For example, here is a search for listings that contain "Atlanta":

Also, just today, I added mod rewrite for page numbers:
{url no longer active}
As you can see it also works with product feeds.

At this point search results do not contain page numbers, but I'm working on that as well.

Also notice that google is doing a pretty good job indexing the demo site:
