Changes in language-file are not shown

Hi! I think I go mad soon. I changed some letters with the language editor in the admin. While the changes are stored in the file (I can see via FTP), they wont show up on the frontend!

I tried to delete the cache, but anything stays as before. Did I miss anything?

I think you need to grant write permissions to the language file you are editing.
