I just installed the script and am in the process of setting up all the categories...couple of questions:

1) How do i change the text at the top that says "Directory Home"?

2) How can i center all of the categories on the main page rather than have them left aligned?

also, and very importantly...is there a way to allow submitters to suggest a category?

Content visible to registered users only.

1. Best way right now is to do a find/replace (ex. in dreamweaver), as it exists in a couple of places.
2. There is not a way to suggest categories at this time, but I'm sure we will add that feature eventually.

great, so far so good. lastly, a couple of more things:

1) how can i add a logo image of mine above the directory title (i.e. at the very top of the page)?

2) where would i add code for an adsense/casalemedia ad skyscraper on either side, or at the bottom?

You should have the answer to both questions there. Basically, you are just editing the header.tpl (or footer.tpl) files.

alright, and one last thing, promise...

i use frontpage for another site hosted on my webspace. when i use the url rewrite, it changes my htaccess file, so i can't publish using frontpage. if i change my htaccess back, i can publish using frontpage, but the descriptive urls don't work for the directory script...

my host tells me it's one or the other, that i can't modify my htaccess at all if i use frontpage, which would mean i can't use the SE friendly descriptive urls...

is he right? is there no way around this?

You could use Front Page to work on yuor site, but it might be best not to "publish" your site using Front Page. Instead you might want to upload files using a free FTP Program like SmartFTP.

That would be a MUCH better idea. :)

I loved the clean way it is done (proprietary directory script) - you ad category together with your link, ie. it is the same as the link form, but has the category field above. (...I hate some dir scripts where you have to suggest category first and then go back every day or week to look whether it was approved - many people don't bother submitting categories because of that).
