User Registration: is it part of 3.0?

Hi,
I'm considering purchasing the PHP directory vs. Gossamer Threads (love the price of PHP but GT seems to have a bit more active developer community and add ons) but wanted to see if there is any way to have users when they submit register and keep a username and password so that can create a profile (in the same way PHP BB does it.)

That feature has not been added to the version 3 series YET. It is being looked at, and I think plansd are being made for it to come in a near release, but dont hold me to that.
