View Full Version : URL never authenticates?
Hi,
I was wondering why it is that for every phpld that I try to submit to, our website never seems to authenticate. Can you try to look into this for us. Thanks.

I am having the same problem with http://www.web-directories.ws. When I try to submit it to directories I receive the msg "The URL could not be validated".
It worked fine but I recently did 2 things:
- upgraded to 3.03
- installed a new template
I have other sites hosted at the same host without any problems.

Thanks guys. The fix worked first time although I thought I would avoid these types of bugs by waiting for version 3.03.

I dont think it is too far out of the question to expect an occasional bug in any version. The great thing is, that if there is a problem, it will be solved.
3.03 is not a perfect version, but the advancements in it are very much worth the upgrade. 3.04 is expected out soon, and it will only get better.

Depends on your point of view. The occasional bugs are starting to add up. I know have to move on to fixing a bug for approval emails (even thought I understand that a fix was identified last October). I have spend hours wondering about this on this and the older release.
Don't get me wrong, I really like the software, but if they want to charge for it should be professionally tested before being released. Its just my opinion but production testing doesn't count in my book.

that is a very good idea. It is great to hear people say this. Of course a professional price would come along with a professional grade software.

Thankyou Boby and Optimit. Excellent fix!
I also agree with Optimit there are always going to be a few minor bugs escape no matter how good the testing. I mean look at the king of bugs Windows, its tested for months and still needs a patch within a week or two of release. :D

I'm having this problem when submitting one of my sites to PHPLD sites.
It gets the "URL COULD NOT BE VALIDATED" error on many (most?) PHPLD sites, but does actually submit on *some* of them.
Does anyone know what I can fix ON MY SITE to get the directory to accept it?
I know our site has a lot of specialized code, but if I could find out WHAT the script is choking on, we might be able to fix it.
Thanks!

*nudge*
Like I say - I want to fix my site to make it work for submitting to the directories, but I need to know what it doesn't like before I can attempt to fix it.
Thanks.
