Interesting comment. Can you post a short list of links here so we have something to reference in the discussion?

I have a 5/10 pagerank in Google and all my PhpLD subcat pages (153) are indexed with a pagerank of 4/10
So i don't think phpLD its not SEO friendly, you just need some SEM.

hm.. i tested a few of my categories on some pagerank-check tools... and i`m very unhappy...
I´ve got a correct pagerank 2 for my mainpage but the subsites of my directory have this answer from evry tool:
Attention, the pagerank seems to be incorrect, the domain is a mirror from....
Whats wrong there?

What's the name of your site so we can see? Perhaps we can all learn how to make it SEO friendly like you have? I am about to pay for a mod for keywords as this is desperately needed. From my readings Google gives a PR4 to just about any directory eventually. I looked at one of mine that is using this script and it only has a three but then went to a PR Prediction tool that actually works and my PR is expected to jump to PR5 next update. Started with a PR0 a few weeks ago.
There are a few PR tools out there and most are WAY innacurate. I know this as I used even this site as a tester and it gave PHPLD a future PR0 which I know to be way untrue. Try http://www.iwebtool.com/pagerank_prediction for the most reliable results at the moment.
Good luck,
Kev

Basicly it's not about Search Engine Optimizing (SEO) because the basic phpLD 3.0.2 script with some minor tweaks (al posted in this forum) can be very search engine friendly. The solution for a good ranking is all about Search Engine Marketing (SEM).
1. Get correct anchor links (and they must come from related sites)
2. Good pressreleases helps you also alot
3. Advertise in your niche with Google adwords
4. ...and try to be the authority in your niche
HINT
Doing SEO & SEM for clients is also a bennefit, it keeps you close with the cutting edge SE technology!

Some good points here, can we have a look at your sites please so we can look and learn, thats what phpld is all about isn't it?
Thanks,
Kev

MSN loves me. Check out number 1 ranking for prestige auto dealer
Page 1 of yahoo - number 9
But google hasn't even indexed me yet - what's the story there. I'm a nice guy.

MSN & Yahoo are easy to get listed, Google takes a little more time (with good SEM you can get out of the Google sandbox after 4 weeks).

My listing is dropping because of re-indexing. At first I thought I was losing my mind and my directory was being knocked off, but finally after a few hours it went from 478 to 576, not bad but it was at 604 and dropped because if the re-indexing.
Give it time to index, or re-index, patience is an annoying virtue in this matter of the internet in trying to get noticed ;)

Google PR and what you get when you search for such on Google are not really tied together. I site with a PR 5 simple means it has X amount of sites linking back to it (well it’s a tad more complex lol but you get the idea I hope) But getting search results is bases on a topic, and directories unless niche in nature have to work long and hard to get results in top of Google. General directories face and up hill battle. To get listed for a certain keyword, however many general directories get returns words they don’t even realize they have in the directory. I looked at one day on one of my directories from last week. I got 173 hits from Google on 165 different keywords. PHP Link Directory or any other directory doers not do your SEO or optimization for you, it is simply a tool to assist you. There are mods available to set up your site for how Google sees you; you have to decide how you want to go.
If you find directories that are not indexed there could be several reasons
1) Banned
2) Inactive
3) To New
4) Don’t update there site thus Google stop spidering them as often thus rank drops.
5) May PHP Link Directories use “NO Follow” on free submissions there is a quite rumor that this can hurt you from being indexed, no real proof but there is never any real proof when it comes to Google as they don’t tell people how or what they are doing, I think including their own employees.
