How to set up the email function?

Hi,
I've been looking for a guide on how to install emailing in phpld. I haven't found anything, though.
I'd appreciate if someone would just quickly tell me how to do set it up, or if someone could refer me to where I can get info on the topic.

No, not really. What I'm having trouble with is that when a link is submitted no email is delivered to confirm that it has been submitted.
What I've done so far is just adapting these: http://www.bloggeries.com/emails.htm so that they'll suit me.
In email settings all there is is "localhost".

I hope someone will be able to help me out!


EDIT:
I've fixed that now. However, a new problem has appeared. My directory is Swedish, and therefore I'd like to be able to send these "confirmation" emails in Swedish. But, when I send Swedish emails the characters åäö won't display correctly. Is there any way I can change the character encoding in the email templates?
