how to give the index page meta keywords and descriptions?
the description in admin gives me a description but that displays on the actual page but not meta
its pulling the meta description from the title as well?

You can add custom META keywords and description to each category page or each link detail page.
For all the rest, including the main index page of your directory, or any other page that has no custom META keywords or description defined, the script will use the default META tags assigned in admin panel under:
Settings >> Edit Settings >> Search Engine Optimisation

Content visible to registered users only.
Then I suggest you go into:

Directory-->Categories-->
and start adding metas

Then, after you are done with your categories, head on over to

Directory-->Links-->
and start adding your metas

also, don't forget your 'featured' links either.

Directory-->Featured Links-->

You can also build empty meta fields in the maintenance section. But only empty fields!

I really don't understand what you are expecting!

To have each page with a custom META tag, you have to ADD that tag to it.
You have a tool in the Maintenance section that helps you build empty META tags (to make your work faster), then you can re-edit them as you like for what category/link page you want.

What else are you expecting? Come on, a meta tag on a page is not THE thing for a search engine. It's still your content.

Let me know what else you want or how you want it to work, and I will see what I can do for you!
