We are now ready to demonstrate the phpLD Regional Directory script:
http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/phpLD/
I will first draw your attention to the submit page:
http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/phpLD/submit.php
You will notice that people must select their city, and country now. There is also a new area in admin where you can add cities, states and countries. We will probably offer a couple of databases that allow you to prepopulate (ex. all countries of the world, or cities and states of the usa)
One final modification will be the use of clickable links instead of drop down boxes (better for search engines).
This one is going to be $25 if you maintain a link, and $75 otherwise. This price is subject to change based on demand. If anyone is interested, please let me know.

I will be seriously considering this, David. I've just been playing a bit with the demo, it's pretty impressive.
Aside from the fact that I'm basically cheap, it still wouldn't occur to me to pay to remove the link: you guys have done a really great job with these scripts, and there's just NO reason to remove the link to the program and its programmers. Credit where credit is due....

Support IS included in the price, right? either way?

Well, limited support will be available in the forums. If, for example, someone is not able to install it, a refund would be in order. Additional support is likely based on people's availability and willingness to help here in the forums (as we have now).

Just an update:
I'm working on mod rewrite and clickable links for the countries, states and cities. Once this is done, it will be available for sale.
I'm of the opinion this thing is going to be totally awesome. 8)

Can we expect a time-limited trial version? I'm averse to paying for something until I've been able to use it in a production environment....

I can make some special considerations for people that I know (just PM me). I think that once you see the finished demo, however, you'll be able to make a decision.

You can wait, if you want, while we set it up and test it on our site live and in full on living color.. I get to be first so all the good and bad will be happening to me.. But I'm expecting all good :)

PS, oh yeah cheap bastards I told him to charge more

Hey Feydaykin and David, how's it coming along? I've paid already, so I'm really hoping to see at least a mostly-together beta soon....

Take a look now here http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/phpLD/
You can see it's getting closer.
The %20 instead of _ probably needs to be changed.
Anything else?

Yeah, in general I'm not thrilled about the %20 business (too much like FP - UGH!); I prefer no spaces, underscores, dashes/hyphens, etc. Much rather have things all run together (like USA, instead of United States of America, etc.), but that's just me.... I'll deal with however the programmers put it together....
I was highly impressed with the dropdown for the cities; that's something that will truly work extremely well for me with my CommunityFirstSource sites, and FindSouthernUtah! site.
Really looking forward to this one! Thanks!

I would prefer to see a hyphen '-' over anything.. It's been sort of determined that Google likes that best, and even though google seems to have forgotten about 'do no evil' I think it's best to keep with that format if possible..

Yeah, I hear you, but it's an absolute pain in the BUTT to type.... which is why I prefer NONE OF THE ABOVE, google notwithstanding. As it happens, I haven't personally noticed that google differentiates materially on my sites with or without the hyphen....
In general, google doesn't care how you do it as long as you have relevant content (which of course excludes those who import 60k+ links from dmoz et al....)
[As to the "do no evil" dreck.... I'm being a total bitch tonight in any case, but I draw the line at commenting here on that.]
