Often one source of spam is people searching for particular phrases that might be found on your directory site, so there are a number of things you can do to get off the “radar” of these spammers. And hopefully you are building a business based on a niche or getting listed in key places instead of optimizing your site for spammers!

First you might want to consider making sure you don’t have some of the following phrases in your site text:

1. Add URL
2. Submit Site
3. Submit Article
4. Add Link
5. Add Site
6. Suggest Site
7. Etc

Think of alternative words that would be less common but still clear, or use graphic images rather than text.
