One area that seems to be experiencing growth in 2019 for website directories is software. There are quite a few different software directories out there that are doing quite well in the search results. Here are a couple of examples:

Capterra and SoftwareAdvice.com are two popular software directories that provide platforms for businesses and individuals to find, compare, and review various software solutions. Here’s a brief overview of each directory:

  1. Capterra: Capterra is a widely recognized software directory owned by Gartner, a leading research and advisory company. It offers a comprehensive database of software products across multiple categories and industries. Users can search for specific software types or browse through different categories to find solutions that meet their needs. Capterra provides detailed information about each software, including vendor details, user reviews, ratings, pricing, and key features. It also allows users to compare multiple software options side by side and request demos or price quotes directly from vendors.
  2. SoftwareAdvice.com: SoftwareAdvice.com is another prominent software directory that helps businesses find suitable software solutions. It offers a vast selection of software products in various categories, such as accounting, customer relationship management (CRM), project management, human resources, and many others. Similar to Capterra, SoftwareAdvice.com provides detailed profiles of software solutions, including vendor information, user reviews, ratings, pricing details, and key features. Users can use the directory to compare different software options and request personalized recommendations based on their specific requirements.

Both Capterra and SoftwareAdvice.com aim to simplify the software selection process by providing comprehensive information and user reviews, helping businesses make informed decisions when choosing the right software for their needs. However, it’s important to note that while these directories offer valuable insights, it’s always recommended to conduct further research and evaluations to ensure a software solution aligns with your unique requirements before making a final decision.

Lots of Questions = Lots of Data

one of the requirements in order to get listed in these directories is to answer a lot of questions. This helps to ensure that people who are placing a listing are pretty serious because they have to take the time to answer the questions. It also ensures that they have lots of original content to provide to Google.

Payment for Links

Also it seems pretty much par for the course that if you are going to get an out link, you are going to have to pay additional money. They advertise this as marketing plans designed to help increase traffic to your site.

Another strategy the employee is burying all the listings that did not pay. So you will only see the listings at the top from advertisers who paid to get listed in the directory.

I recall there being a Time on Google did not promote this practice oh, and this would be grounds for a directory not being ranked on Google, but it seems like these directories are flying high in 2019!
